SOUTH PARIS – Carroll P. Hebert, 61, a resident of 92 Gill St., Auburn, died Friday at the Maine Veterans Home with his family by his side after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 29, 1946, the son of Paul E. and Rella (Voisine) Hebert.

He attended Auburn schools, and was a 1964 graduate of Edward Little High School. Following his schooling, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served active duty from 1966 through 1967 during the Vietnam conflict.

After the war, he returned to work at the Bates Mill, and then went on to work at the Bath Iron Works Shipyard, where he became a supervisor of the pipe department in 1981.

He was an avid candlepin bowler since high school, and loved all sports, especially football, including the New England Patriots.

He loved his dog, Blackie, but his greatest joy was camping at Vacationland in Harrison.

Mr. Hebert was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, past All State Commander of the VFW where he was a life member of the Capt. Frank W. Hulett Post No. 1603, American Legion Post No. 153 in New Auburn, life member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 106, and also a member of the Central Maine Detachment Marine Corps League.

Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Auburn, whom he married on Jan. 29, 1966; two daughters, Sue Butcher and her husband, Arthur, of Auburn and their children, Kendra and Kelsey; Sheri Theriault and her husband, Richard, of Auburn, and their children, Christopher, Joseph, and Ryan; one brother, Carlton Hebert and his wife, Claire, of Auburn; six sisters, Fedora Lloyd of Norway, Carlene Desrosiers and her husband, Edward, of Turner, Mona Fongemie and her husband, Raymond, of Lisbon, Nancy Lavigne and her husband, Normand, of Sabattus, Linda Pratt of Auburn, and Tina Eugley and her husband, William, of Auburn. Also surviving are many nieces,nephews, and cousins.
