• Feb. 5, 1:30 a.m. – While doing routine residential security checks at the end of his shift on Andover Road (Route 120), Sgt. David Bean came upon a car accident, but the driver had left the scene, and no one had reported the accident. An investigation revealed that the owner and operator of the 1996 Dodge is Mary Beth Austin, 28, of Dixfield, Bean said late Thursday night.
The car, which slid well off the snow-covered road around 5 p.m. on Feb. 4, sustained an estimated $4,000 in damage.
Bean said Austin told him she thought she only had to report the accident to the American Automobile Association, not police. Austin was summoned on charge of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and will be arraigned on April 3 in Rumford District Court.
