MINOT – Mary G. (Mynahan) Simpson, 81, passed away at her home in Minot on Feb. 10, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born in Lewiston, May 10, 1925, the daughter of John and Margaret Gahagan Mynahan.

She attended Lewiston schools and graduated with the Lewiston High School class of 1943.

She worked as an operator for the New England Telephone Company in Lewiston. There she met and married fellow employee, Alfred J. Simpson Jr. of Minot, on Oct. 13, 1951. They moved to Minot in the fall of 1954, and raised a family of nine boys in the big white house behind the Methodist Church.

Both Mary and Fred were longtime and supportive members of Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Mechanic Falls.

Together they supported the Minot School Community Club, the Lion’s Club, the Telephone Pioneers and numerous private charities.

After retirement, they were frequent visitors to their extended family in Ireland until his death in December 1994.

She remained a generous contributor to countless charities up to the time of her death.

She is survived by her sons and their families, Gregory of Minot, his wife, Roxanne, and children, Jennifer, Nicholas, Lauren, Stephen and Benjamin, Brian of Hampden, his wife, Nancy, and children Matthew, Kevin and Scott, Peter of Danville, his wife, Dawn, and children, Joseph, Andrew, Angela and John, Tad of Poland, his wife, Kim, and children, Charles, Michael and Erin; Daniel of Minot, his wife Gail, and children, Michael, Melissa, Katie, Kristen and Casey, Thomas of Mechanic Falls and his canine companion, Buddy, Mark of Oxford and his wife, Tareena, Patrick of Arizona, his wife, Angela, and children, Jenna, Grant, Cam, Sam and Tara; two sisters, Jane Trask of Auburn and Irene Lovely of Mechanic Falls, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Neil in 1957; her sisters, Constance and Rita; and brothers, John and Joseph.
