PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – A 71-year-old Portsmouth man police say is known for hosting swinger parties at his home was arrested and charged with assaulting two people.

Joseph Ranguette is charged with striking two tenants who live in the building he owns.

Police have been monitoring activities at Ranguette’s triplex for about a year. They say he advertises parties on the Internet under the name “Middle Door Swingers Club.”

Police say Ranguette has been running the swingers club for about 15 years, though city officials have asked him to stop, saying the parties violate residential zoning rules.

He’ll be in court Feb. 26 to face the assault charges.
