Seniors meeting

AUBURN – The New Auburn Senior Citizens met Feb. 4 with President Virginia Levasseur presiding. In observance of Valentine’s Day, Lorraine Cloutier was crowned queen and Jean Paul Poulin, king. They received gifts.

A fried chicken dinner will be served at noon Thursday, Feb. 22, for members only. Birthdays of the month were honored and small gifts were given. New members Joan Morin and Marguerite Larochelle were welcomed.

Trips to a sugar house in Canada on April 17 and Atlantic City in May are being planned. The meeting adjourned, and a light lunch was served followed by bingo.

Skating party

LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Recreation and the Lisbon Community School PTO will sponsor a community skating party at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Lisbon Public Skating Rink located behind Lisbon High School. There will be free food and drinks. Everyone is welcome.

Art club speaker

AUBURN – The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the High Street Congregational Church.

Members will be introduced to the life of Edna St. Vincent Millay by the guest speaker, Helen Archambault. Edna St. Vincent Millay was born in Rockland on Feb. 22, 1892. She was a poet and playwright and was the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Barbara Randall will read some of her poetry.

Hostesses will be program chairwomen Maude Abbott and Edwina Pontbriand, Mildred Bickford and Ruth Farnsworth.

Lodge to meet

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home of Maine activities room, 85 Caron Lane, for a potluck supper. Presidents’ Day will be observed. Special guest will be Helen Witham, president of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine.

A special collection will be taken at the 7 p.m. meeting for the Diabetes Association, a project that Witham has designated for special attention during her year as president. The program is under the direction of Doreen Locke, noble grand. Dress attire is requested. All Rebekahs are invited.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 12 were: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Cynthia Bonsey and Claire Lyons; third, Marta Clements and Luke Merry; fourth, Judy Abromson and Beverly Dolan.

Games are played at 9:00 a.m. Mondays, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for information about all duplicate bridge games.
