AUBURN – Marguerite V. Denis Brown, 83, formerly of Barker Arms in Auburn died Sunday, Feb. 11, at Clover Manor with her family by her side.
She was born in South Holyoke, Mass., Dec. 8, 1923, the daughter of John and Yvonne St. Lawrence Lavigne. In 1942, she married Alfred Denis, who predeceased her in 1973. She later married Edward Brown in 1981, who also predeceased her in 1995.
She was educated in Gardiner and Sabattus schools and attended Winslow High School. She worked for many years at local shoe shops including Belgrade Shoe and Cushman Shoe. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Lewiston and the Ruth Chapter 14 O.E.S in Springvale.
Among her interests were crocheting and making blankets for her many friends and family. She enjoyed listening to French music. She also had a great love for animals and will be remembered for her great sense of humor. Her greatest pleasure in life however was the time she spent with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Pauline Therrien, and her husband, Richard, of Lewiston; two stepsons, Normand, and his wife, Connie Denis, of Lewiston and Maurice Denis of South Paris; three sisters, Laura Vachon, and her companion, Normand, of Sabattus, Claire Oldham of Roseville, Calif., and Marie Rose, and her husband, Earl Lagasse, of Sabattus; her brother, Robert Lavigne of Benton; two loving granddaughters, Tammy, and her husband, Rick Beaudoin, of Lewiston, and Cindy, and her husband, Michael Letourneau, of Greene; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
We want to express our most grateful thanks to the staff at Clover Health Care who took good care of her during her needs. Also a special thank-you to her godchild, Diane Paine, who gave her extra care and love. Also to her wonderful Dr. Satya Singh at St. Mary’s hospital who pulled her through many rough times. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends who loved her.
