AUBURN – Ashley Quimby scored 19 points to lead Central Maine Community College to a 73-66 victory over Hesser in a first-round Yankee Conference playoff matchup Tuesday.

Kerri Harris chipped in for the Mustangs (8-7) with 12 points, while Justine Frost-Kolva and Jacki Moors added 11 each. Tiffany Seams contributed six points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Central Maine held a 38-20 advantage at the break.

Hesser was paced by Katie Edwards with 19 points, while Gillean Nelson tallied 17 and Aimee Dole added 12.

USM 92, Mass Boston 50

BOSTON – Ashley Marble recorded a double-double with a game-high 33 points and 14 boards to lead Southern Maine to a 92-50 triumph Tuesday over UMass-Boston.

The Huskies (22-1, 13-0) had a comfortable 45-17 lead at half and never looked back. Angela Santa Fe registered 12 points, and Dawn Ross contributed nine for the win.

Vermont 80, Maine 74

ORONO – Brittney Cross poured in a game-high 21 points Tuesday to lead Vermont to an 80-74 victory over Maine.

Amy Rosenkrantz chipped in for the Catamounts (16-8) with 19 points, while May Kotsopoulos tallied 16 and Courtnay Pilypaitis added 11.

Vermont built a slim six-point advantage in the first half, then went on a 41-29 run in the second half to seal the win.

The Black Bears (12-11) were paced by Ashley Underwood with 20 points, while Bracey Barker added 14 and Katie Whittier 12.

Men’s basketball

Bowdoin 87, St. Joe’s 83

STANDISH – The Bowdoin men’s team saw every starter score in double figures as they rolled to a 87-83 overtime victory over St. Joseph’s in its regular-season finale Tuesday night.

Kevin Bradley tallied 11 points for Bowdoin, becoming just the 17th player in school history to pass the 1,000-point barrier.

Bowdoin erased a nine-point deficit in the final five minutes to force overtime. Andrew Hippert hit consecutive three-pointers in the run, and a jumper by Jordan Fliegel with a minute to play tied the game at 73 apiece.

Andrew Sargeantson led the Polar Bears with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Jordan Fliegel tallied 16 and Kyle Jackson added 14 with eight assists. Elbie Murphy paced the Monks with 18 points.
