BATH – Ruth Cleveland Caler Moody, 89, of Bath died Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Hill House Assisted Living.
She was born in North Waterford on Oct. 22, 1917, the oldest daughter of James C. and Ethel Stanley Cleveland. She grew up in Norway and was a graduate of Norway High School.
She married Kenneth N. Caler on June 12, 1940. He passed away in 1963. They lived in Mechanic Falls, where she was active in church, community and youth affairs. She owned, with Dorothy Rollins, the Value Dress Shop.
She loved the Red Sox. She was a lifelong member of the Grange. She enjoyed people and cooking. She married George F. Moody in July 1971. They lived in Harpswell. He passed away in 1999.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Bruce and Nathalie Caler of Arlington, Vt.; a stepdaughter, Marcia Smith of Veazie; a stepson and his wife, Allan and Cathie Moody of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Wade A. Caler, Wanda C. Emerich and Duane A. Caler; four step-grandchildren, Jodie Smith, Allan Smith, Zachary Moody and Matthew Moody; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Morse, Betty Crockett and Esther Estes, all of Norway; two brothers, Ralph Cleveland of North Waterford and John Cleveland of South Paris; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, James Cleveland; an infant sister, Jolene Cleveland; and a step-son-in-law, David Smith.
