Bulb project

AUGUSTA – The Local Light Bulb Project is a grassroots initiative focused on getting town support for using energy efficient light bulbs in all public building supported with taxpayer dollars; i.e. town office, fire station, library.

As budget committees complete their work of preparing warrant items for town meetings, residents are being asked to add a warrant item regarding the use of energy efficient bulbs.

There are two ways towns can commit to the project. They can vote to set aside a small fund to purchase energy efficient bulbs or, if they’ve already closed their books for the year, they can commit to replace bulbs, as they burn out, with energy efficient ones.

Town governments can purchase energy efficient bulbs at a discount, either in retail or wholesale quantities. For a current list of wholesale partners that would provide towns with a discount, call Efficiency Maine at 1-866-376-2463.
