FARMINGTON – Carl Edwin Heath, 86, of Phillips, died Monday, Feb. 12, at Edgewood Manor Rehab and Living Center.

He was born April 1, 1920, in Phillips, a son of Harry and Alice (Steward) Heath. He was educated in the schools of New Vineyard and Farmington, graduating in 1938. He married M. Frances Philbrick, Dec. 25, 1946 in Phillips. She died July 31, 1992.

He served in the Army during World War II, being stationed in the European Theater and holding the rank of staff sergeant. In 2006, he was presented the Bronze Star for his service. He retired after working 38 years for H.G. Winter in Kingfield.

He was a member of the Mt. Saddleback Lodge 92, I.O.O.F for 67 years, Sandy River Encampment 9, I.O.O.F., where he was a past grand officer, for 50 years he was a member and past commander of the Prescott-Fairbanks Post American Legion 64 and also served as a past commander of the county and district. He was a member of the Blue Mt. Lodge 67 AF&AM and past master and served as Grand Tyler of the Grand Lodge of Maine. He was a member of the Phillips Methodist Church, member of the Phillips Fire Department for many years and the A.M.P.S. Ambulance Service.

He is survived by three daughters, Janice White of Phillips, Alice Sozanski, and her husband, Dr. Stephen, of East Boothbay and Carla Heath of Ashuelot, N.H.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
