LEWISTON – The St. Dominic Regional High School Drama Society will present its version of the popular TV show “Beauty & the Geek,” created by actor Ashton Kutcher. The show will be performed in front of a live audience at 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, in the school commons.
Contestants went through an application process created by the school’s drama moderators with input from students. All students, male and female, were allowed to apply for the roles of beauty, geek, or host for the evening. Applications were reviewed carefully, teams chosen – and the fun began.
There will be three separate rounds. The first round is for the school’s self-professed beauties. Teachers throughout the school were asked to submit questions in various subject areas that the beauties are now studying. Beauties were supplied with study material on each subject matter and given a few weeks to prepare for a live exam with the help of their assigned geeks.
Round two will be the big reveal. Since the pairing of teams, the beauties have been working with the geeks, focusing on fashion and style. They have spent hours pouring over magazines, window-shopping at outlet stores, surfing the Net and consulting with stylists. The beauties then set their geeks free to use all of their knowledge to come up with a new look for themselves.
Each geek was given some money, and the teams were allowed to submit their own funds to the cause as well. The beauties are not allowed to see their geeks’ new looks until the big live reveal.
In the final round, the two leading teams will be quizzed on how much they learned throughout the experiment. The grand prize is $250.
Admission to the “Beauty & the Geek” production is $5 at the door.
