NORWAY – Miland “Mac” G. McAllister, 86, of Otisfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Moscow, on Nov. 1, 1920, the son of Charles E.S. and Sarah Chadbourne McAllister.

He married Evelyn Winslow on Dec. 21, 1940, and they had 66 wonderful years together. Mac as a young man joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked as a woodsman and farmer’s helper. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944, and served his country during World War II.

Upon returning from the service he and his family eventually bought a home in Otisfield and have lived in that home since 1953. He was a self-employed caretaker for many families in the Otisfield area for more than 50 years. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and putter in his workshop.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Otisfield; son, Keith of Otisfield; sister, Mauna Porter; three brothers, Erwin, Urban and Theron McAllister; granddaughters, Kelly McAllister, Terri Scott, and husband, Jason; and a great-grandson, Odin Scott.

He was predeceased by a son, Sherman; one sister, Myrna Keaton; and two brothers, Loren and Telford McAllister.
