SOUTH PARIS – Harold “Bud” Edwards Sr., 81, of South Paris died Wednesday, Feb. 14, at his residence.
He was born in South Paris on July 13, 1925, the son of Carroll and Gertrude Davis Edwards and eventually lived his entire life in South Paris. He attended Paris High School and proudly served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hall, a naval destroyer.
He married Jackie Parsons on Sept. 30, 1948. After military service, he was a truck driver for Whitman Oil Co. prior to going to work for AC Lawrence Leather Co., where he worked as a mechanic for 30 years.
He was a member of the Paris Fire Department for many years including 13 years as fire chief. Bud loved to go hunting and fishing at his camp in Andover. He also enjoyed collecting and trading antiques.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie of South Paris; six children, Leslie Barnard of Contoocook, N.H., Billie Ford of Pembroke, N.H., Hal Edwards Jr. of Harrison, Peter Edwards of West Paris, Jeffrey Edwards of Hillsboro, N.H., and Pam Norcia of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marie Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Phyllis Knightly, Lillian Thurston and Olive Lasselle; and one brother, Francis Edwards.
