Elected officials volunteer to serve the citizens of Lewiston. Meetings are very time consuming, in some instances. In the past, the mayor, and sometimes the councilors, have allotted just a few minutes to citizens, then cut them off.

If they do not wish to listen to the citizens at open meetings, they should resign and let someone who will have patience serve instead.

Larry Gilbert, who is now running for mayor, knows how it feels to be cut off, and have some of the elected officials telling him to hurry up, since they are impatient.

I feel sure Mr. Gilbert, having the experience of being cut off, would be sensitive to not cutting citizens off. If you don’t want to donate the time as a public servant, then resign and let someone who would put in the time take over.
