LEWISTON – Community Clinical Services B Street Health Center was awarded the 2006 Epidemiology Award for its “exemplary efforts” to promote strategic disease control strategies and maintain an active disease surveillance system to protect the health of Maine citizens.

Those responsible for organizing and executing the successful TB program at B Street include: Jim Lysen, CCS executive director, program administrator; Dr. Ralph Harder, CCS medical director, TB consultant; Donna Terrio, CCS office clinical assistant, TB coordinator; Sandra Chandonnet and Marilyn Bouchard, public health nurses; Abdullahi Abdulle and Duhdi Dahir of Smart Interpreters, interpreters and cultural brokers; and Dr. Geniene Wilson, CCS family practice physician at the B Street, who volunteered her time at the TB clinic before becoming the physician at B Street.

The TB clinic and individuals were recognized by the Division of Infectious Disease, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Maine Department of Health and Human Services, at the annual infectious disease symposium.
