PORTLAND – Barbara Frances Lee, 84, formerly of Powsland Street, died Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Barron Center.

She was born in Portland, a daughter of Marion E. Goud Bailey.

She attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Portland High School.

On Sept. 17, 1941, she married Richard H. Lee at St. Patrick’s Church.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was adored by her family and friends.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church for over 55 years and a member of the St. Patrick’s Women’s Council.

She was a volunteer at St. Patrick’s School and a member of the Cheverus Mother’s Club.

She was also a longtime volunteer at Mercy Hospital and a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard H. Lee Sr. in 2005; two brothers, Donald Bailey and Merlon Bailey; and a sister, Priscilla Lowell.

Survivors include six children, Richard Lee Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Turner, Sharon Noyes and her husband, Charles, of Gray, James Lee and his wife, Susan, of Yarmouth, Martha Croteau and her husband, Link, of North Berwick, Cynthia Fletcher and her husband, Don, of Auburn, and Patrick Lee and his wife, Sharon, of Yarmouth; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff at the Barron Center II.
