LEWISTON – Bertrand Roger Moreau, 75, of 10 Seville Place, formerly of 30 Webster St., Lewiston, died Saturday evening, Feb. 17, at Marshwood Healthcare Facility with family at his side after a prolonged illness.

He was born in Lewiston on May 6, 1931, son of the late Dominic and Antoinette Guenette Moreau.

He graduated from St. Peter’s School and from St. Dominic’s High School in 1950. He remained a lifelong resident of this community.

He joined the Air Force in 1950 and received a medical discharge.

On May 30, 1953, he married Madeleine Bisson at Holy Family Church.

A longtime and well-known businessman, he was the owner of Dom J. Moreau & Son Electrical, and an electrical inspector for Lewiston and Turner until his retirement in 2000.

He was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church, the Knights of Columbus and the State Electrical Association.

Favorite times were spent at camp, which he and his family built at Sugarloaf in 1968, and where he enjoyed skiing and relaxing with family and friends. He was affectionately known as “Papa Bear.” He was a generous person and his first concern was what he could do for his family and others.

Survivors include his wife, Madeleine of Lewiston; two daughters, Suzanne Castonguay and her husband, Dennis, of East Orland, and Louise Schutt and her husband, Jim, of Gray; three sons, Marc Moreau of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Paul and his wife, Celeste, of Auburn, and Denis and his wife, Lori, of Poland; 11 grandchildren, Steven Moreau, Brian Moreau, Lisa Castonguay Emmerling, Gregory and Matthew Castonguay, Beth and James Schutt, Arielle and Daniel Moreau, and Lily and Emma Moreau; two great granddaughters, Sara Moreau and Kaitlin Emmerling; one sister, Marguerite Baribeault, of Lewiston; and two brothers, Julien Moreau and his wife, Venise, of Lewiston and Reynald Moreau, and his wife, Joyce, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Michelle Castonguay, who died on March 30, 2001.
