DELAND, Fla. – Dorothy T. Simones, 89, formerly of Lewiston, died Feb. 5, at the Alliance Center for Healthcare in DeLand, Fla.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 24, 1918, she was the daughter of Harry and Gertrude Breen Vaughn.

She lived most of her life in Lewiston, married to Nicholas “Nick” Simones. After his death she moved to DeLand, Fla., to be close to her sister, Honey Fabisy, and because she always dreaded the Maine winters.

The family includes her brother, James Vaughn; her son, Edward “Butch” Simones of New Hampshire; grandsons Tyler and Todd Simones of California; and a great-grandson, Finn Simones of California.
