Seniors to meet

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Hasty Community Center. A Valentine luncheon will be prepared and served by Lucien Marcoux and his volunteer assistants, and the Valentine king and queen will be crowned. There will be the usual raffle table. Members are reminded to bring their own utensils. Bingo will be played after lunch.

The group met Feb. 7 with 62 members in attendance. Galen Sibley and Patricia Callaway were welcomed as new members. Patricia Edwards and Gerry Brushwein volunteered to head the Valentine Decorating Committee, assisted by Lucy Cowles.

It was reported William Redmun is a patient at d’Youville Pavilion following surgery and is able to receive visitors.

Trip Chairwoman Doris Michael stated the bus for Indian Head Resort, Lincoln, N.H., on March 12 will leave the Auburn Mall in the Farmers’ Market area at 8 a.m.

AARP speaker

LEWISTON – Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. The board of directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.

The program will be on healthy cooking for one or two. It will cover vitamins, minerals, fats, fiber and fluids. A segment will show how to modify recipes. Jennifer Williams, a clinical dietitian from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, will be the speaker.

Anyone over the age of 50 is invited. There will be an attendance drawing and a drawing for 50 percent of the total pot of gold. Refreshments will be served. If schools should be closed that day, there will be no meeting.

McLaughlin to talk on mission

AUBURN – The Young at Heart Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Court Street Baptist Church. A business meeting will be held at 11 a.m. followed by devotions led by Lissa Bradford, Hospice House chaplain.

A bag lunch will be held at noon. Dessert will be provided. Members should bring a place setting and articles for door prizes. There will be a food sale at 10:30 a.m. and during the lunch hour.

Speaker will be Pastor Paul McLaughlin, director of the Hope Haven Gospel Mission on Lincoln Street, Lewiston. McLaughlin will explain the challenge and mission work of Hope Haven. All senior citizens are welcome.

Trips planned

LEWISTON – The Meadowview Seniors will hold two day trips, and everyone is welcome. Bert Dutil will be the escort and should be contacted if interested.

A sugar party will be held Friday, March 30, to Lac Megantic, Canada. Those going do not need a passport this year, but do need a photo ID. Transportation and meal are included for $36.

On Friday, June 22, there will be a trip to Boothbay Harbor for shopping, a meal and a show at the Carousel Music Theater for $52.

Dutil is also organizing a two-day trip on Dec. 4 and 5 to Mohegan Sun to include a Roy Clark Christmas Show, New York City for the musical spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, plus sightseeing, some meals and hotel accommodations. Ductil needs 20 people before he can make the arrangements. Cost is $349.95.
