Book chat

NORWAY – An afternoon “book chat” is being held at the Norway Memorial Library once a month during the winter and spring. The group offers an informal discussion of books that participants want to share with others.

The group will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. Other chats will be held March 22, April 26 and May 24. Attending the January gathering were Maureen Simmons, Mary Andrews, Gretchen Neidlinger, Georgiana Pacent and Ellen Veazey. It is a project of the Friends of the Norway Library and is open to all.

Chinese auction

OXFORD – The Resistance Ministries, a nonprofit ministry, will hold a Chinese auction fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 24, featuring hundreds of new items at the Hosanna Church Building. The doors will open for ticket sales at 11 a.m. and the tickets will start to be drawn at 12:30 p.m.

All ticket buyers for the auction are guaranteed to win something. There will be a dollar table, grab bags and a 50/50 raffle. Food and drink will be available for purchase as well. For more information, call the ministry office at 743-6982.

Benefit dance

OXFORD – There will be a benefit dance featuring the band For Petes Sake from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Oxford Community Center. There will be a 50/50 drawing, merchandise raffles and food. Those attending are asked to bring a scratch ticket. All proceeds will benefit Peter Morrison, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and underwent a quadruple bypass on Valentine’s Day. Cost is $10 for adults.

Spaghetti dinner

PARIS – A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the First Congregational Church. The cost is $5.

Emily and Debbie LaVine will be travel to Cartago, Cost Rica, in April for a one-week volunteer trip through an organization called Cross Cultural Solutions.
