TURNER – The North Turner Presbyterian Church on Route 219 has been sporting a new lawn decoration for several months.

For the curious, the “Ark” represents an ongoing fundraising project for Heifer International. The church is raising $5,000 to send an “Ark of Animals” to a South American village.

The donation will allow for food production, animal breeding and self-sustaining agriculture for an entire village. It is an ark because the animals are sent “two by two” for breeding purposes.

Each window on the ark represents $500 toward the goal and it will be filled with an animal’s picture when that amount has been raised.

At present, the church is almost ready to fill the third window. Any community, church or school group that would like to help with the project is encouraged to call for more information at 224-7913 or 225-2020.

The church would like to send the Ark from the entire area and would appreciate any participation. Anyone wishing to donate may send contributions to North Turner Presbyterian Church, Ark Project, P.O. Box 541, North Turner, ME 04266.
