NORWAY – Doris P. Schieferstein, 87, of Harrison, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Somerville, N.J., on Feb. 9, 1920, the daughter of Charles W. and Mary Pickell Craig. She graduated from Somerville High School and worked at A. M. Best Co., in Oldwick, N.J., for many years. She married John H. Schieferstein on Feb. 24, 1940.
She was a member of the United Reform Church in Somerville, N.J., where she was secretary-treasurer of the Primary Department, Sunday School, a former member of the Somerville Civic League, and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Harrison. She retired to Maine in 1984.
She is survived by her children, Richard C. Schieferstein, and his wife, Charlene, of Harrison and Diane L. Prow, and her husband, Richard, of Hillsborough, N.J.; a brother, Charles Craig, of Kutztown, Pa.; a sister, Loretta Crate, of Lawrenceville, N.J.; three grandchildren, John Schieferstein, and his wife, Whitney, Stacey Prow and Scott Prow; and one great-grandson, Quinn Allyn Schieferstein.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1992.
