LEWISTON – Cecile J. Rivard, 83, of Campus Avenue, died Sunday, Feb. 19, at d’Youville Pavilion.
She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 29, 1923, a daughter to the late Albert and Maria (Viere) Rioux. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was a former member of St. Mary’s Church.
She married the love of her life, Laurent (Larry) Rivard on Feb. 9, 1946. She was a member of St. Anne’s Sodality, Lewiston Senior Citizens, Horizon 55, Covenant 50, Lisbon American Legion Auxiliary Post 158 and a life time member of the Pasttime Club.
She enjoyed doing embroidery for her children and grandchildren. She loved on travel, especially to California to visit her two brothers. She always looked forward on going camping up north and bringing her little dog, Treena, her trips to Canada, going to the seashore and playing bingo.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her beautiful smile and the joy of seeing children and grandchildren in play. Her children, grandchildren and husband will greatly miss her.
She leaves her husband of 61 years, Larry Rivard of Lewiston; a daughter, Dolores Grenier, and her husband, John, of Monmouth; three sons, Richard, and his wife, Linda, of Tennessee, Gil, and wife, Elaine, of Lewiston and Don, and his wife, Jane, of Lisbon Falls; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Therese Godin; and her three brothers, Roland, Lucien and Roger Rioux.
