PARIS – Resumes and inquires are pouring into the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce office as the organization begins its search for a new executive director.
“We were completely surprised,” said search committee Chairman Katherine Kelly. The chamber serves 11 towns and has about 400 members.
The search committee is set to meet today to review the job description and more clearly define the compensation and benefits package, she said.
Former Executive Director Richard Livingston, who was hired in May 2005 to oversee the organization, resigned abruptly on Jan. 18 for personal reasons. Livingston, a former Auburn city councilor, has not made public his reason for leaving and continued Tuesday to decline to comment on his departure.
Kelly said the new executive director will be offered a salary of between $35,000 and $45,000 and medical benefits. Additionally a bonus package will be offered for proven results in membership and chamber revenue increases.
Kelly said the job of executive director is “critical” to the organization. The person is the “face” of the chamber at community and business functions as well as for its daily operation.
“Oxford Hills is such a dynamic area,” she said of the need to hire the right person.
Resumes are being accepted until March 15. A new executive director is expected to be in place by mid-April.
