LEWISTON – Robert J. Nadeau, 90, of Mellon Street, Lewiston died Monday, Feb. 19, with his four sons by his side at d’Youville Pavilion.
He was born in Black Lake, P.Q., Canada, on Feb. 5, 1917, the son of Archille and Roseanna (Turgeon) Nadeau.
He was the husband of the former Emeline Gallant who died on June 7, 2000.
Prior to his retirement he worked for many years in a local textile industry as a loom fixer at the Bates Mill.
He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church and a member of the former St. Joseph’s Mens League.
He was known as a jack-of-all-trades.
He is survived by four sons, Robert R., and his wife, Rachel, of Biddeford, Fernand E., and his wife, Monique, of Kennebunk, Bertrand R., and his wife, Kathy, of Claxton, Ga. and Maurice J., and his wife, Gloria, of Lewiston; one sister, Helen Simonetti of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Emeline Nadeau; five brothers; and six sisters.
