Dear Sun Spots: The Dirigo Service Team is planning a Girl Scout 95th celebration and reunion on Saturday, March 10.

We would like to hear of any experiences from Girl Scouts and adult Girl Scout volunteers for the first volume of the Girl Scout Fondest Memory Booklet. Please send your fondest memory of Girl Scouts, troop experiences, camp experiences or leader experiences to: 95th Girl Scout Memories, 148 Webster St., Lewiston, ME 04240 or via e-mail to girlscoutnet@yahoo.com. While our deadline is March 5, please continue to send your memories in as we are planning to create a second volume. More information on the March 10 event will be forthcoming. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I have a gold award medal inscribed “Lewiston Auburn Manufactures Polo League.” It looks old. Does anyone have any information? Thank you. – George Mattor, Roxbury.

Dear Sun Spots: I have been a Sun Journal reader and subscriber for 20 years, and I think the best thing that has happened to the paper is Sun Spots. It helps many people, and I am hoping that you can help me. I have custody of my 7-year-old granddaughter, and she is just a joy. She is a great child and a good friend to all. She has a smile every day, and the teachers say they look for her smile when they are having a bad day. She wants a puppy more than anything for her birthday. She will be 8 in March. I live on a fixed income and cannot pay $300-$400 for a puppy. I can pay to have it fixed and provide its shots, but I cannot get up the initial money for the actual puppy. It would be wonderful if any readers have such a puppy; we would be forever grateful. We would appreciate a small dog. Mixed breed is fine, and male or female is also fine. Could one of your readers bring a BIG smile to her face and find such a puppy? Thanks so much. – Peggy, No Town.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots wonders if you’ve checked in with your local animal shelter? You might contact the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, 783-2311. They are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also find them online at www.gahumane.org. In addition, there is a senior adoption program. Seniors wishing to participate in this program should be at least 65 years old. The dogs coming into the program would already be spayed and neutered, but you would be eligible to adopt animals 5 years old and older. They currently do not have any in their facility, but you might keep in touch with them until one becomes available.

Another option would be to contact McKennel’s Animal Adoption Agency in Rumford at 364-7176. They are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays by appointment only, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thank you.

Dear Sun Spots: I have read where you have helped so many people so I’m hoping you can please help me.

I’m looking for some Alberta ceramic molds for mice ornaments. Midtown in Lisbon carried them but they closed long ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can be reached via phone at 743-2683 or e-mail at pekelurs@verizon.net. – P. F., No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, if you have access to a computer you might consider checking out eBay. Sun Spots noted several references to Alberta ceramic molds that might be worth further research. In addition, Sun Spots spoke to Steve Wong of Smith’s Ceramics, 268 Main Street, Bangor, ME 04401, (207) 945-3969 who has several Alberta molds. Among them some mice Christmas ornaments and others. Steve recommends you contact the store with more details. They are open Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday’s from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Alternatively, you can also e-mail them at teresawon@aol.com FMI. Please be sure to include “ceramics” in the subject line.
