LEWISTON – F.A.B., a partnership between the Franco-American Heritage Center and Bates College, will present the 2nd annual F.A.B. Winter Dance Showcase Sunday, March 4, when 30-plus professional dancers will take the stage at the Franco center.

This year’s collage of choreographers will include Peg Brightman, Debbie Irons, Jill Spiewak Eng, Louis Gervais, Jill Grunnah, Sarah McCormick, Elizabeth Miller, Laurence Miller, Sasha Randall and Carl Rudman and Paul Jarvis. Each of these dance artists from all over the state brings something new and different to the art of dance.

Gervais, a Lewiston native, captivates with his dance storytelling abilities. Irons of Norway brings heat with an Afro-Brazilian jazz style. Miller, director of the competitive ballroom teams from Bates, Bowdoin and Colby College, presents ballroom dancing at its best. Rudman of North Anson, is a fixture in Maine’s contact improvisation community.

McCormick, artist-in-residence at Bates, shares her mature physical eloquence in modern dance as well as up-and-coming choreographers Grunnah, Randall and Miller. Eng, director of Forward and Up, and Brightman, director of Moving Spirit, present new works by accomplished dancers from Maine’s coastal region. Also included in this performance are Lewiston High School dancers from Elizabeth Hansen’s New Dance Center studios and Bates and Bowdoin students.

The performance will begin at 2 p.m. The Franco center is at 46 Cedar St. Admission is $12, $10 for students and senior citizens. For reservations, call 689-2000. For more information, go online to francoamericanheritage.org.
