FARMINGTON – Lucinda R. Lord, 88, of Farmington, formerly of Vienna, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on Jan. 12, 1919, the daughter of George and Vivian Dill. She was educated in the schools of Mt. Vernon and Kents Hill.

She married George H. Lord, in Winthrop, on Dec. 24, 1939, and he passed away in 1980.

In her earlier years she worked as a staff cook for Maine Chance Farm in Mt. Vernon. She also ran a little country store, was a postmaster in Vienna for several years and once ran a barbershop in her house. She loved to cook and would make doughnuts for the neighborhood kids. She had a green thumb and could revive any straggly plant. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, working on genealogy and e-mailing her friends.

She was an active member in the Extension, the Rebekahs, the Eastern Star, Mill Stream Grange and the Vienna Fire Department Auxiliary. She attended Farmington Baptist Church and was co-founder of the Vienna Historical Society.

She is survived by three sons, George H. Lord II, and his wife, Betty, of Mayfield, Ky., Joseph H. Lord, and his wife, Eileen, of Vienna and Charles A. Lord, and his wife, Gail, of Wilton; three daughters, Vivian Geiger, of Spring Lake, N.C., Helen Wilkey, of Vienna and Polly Hohenberger, and her husband, Laurel, of Montana; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of more than 40 years, George.
