FARMINGTON – Harold and Iva Lake of Farmington celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house given by their five children.
They are the parents of Vincent Lake, Shirley Beane, Linda Dwinal, Arnold Lake and Cynthia Bartlett. They have 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
They received many cards, a bouquet of flowers and telephone calls from two of their grandchildren who were unable to attend.
The couple was married on Feb. 14, 1942, in an intimate ceremony at the Titcomb House, with the Rev. Harding Gaylord officiating. They were together 10 months before Mr. Lake was called to war. Mrs. Lake moved back with her family and had the first of their five children. He was sent overseas with the U.S. Army to Africa and Italy, before almost losing both feet to trench foot. They celebrated their first anniversary for the first time together in 1946.
Their daughter, Cindy and son-in-law, Ron Bartlett, also wed on Feb. 14, 25 years ago.
