LEWISTON – La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St.

The monthly gathering is sponsored by TV5MONDE. The newly formed partnership between the heritage center and the worldwide French programming television network has become a source of revenue and support for the French nonprofit organization.

The gathering will feature Erica Brown on her violin playing French toe-tapping tunes. Brown is an accomplished traditional fiddle player and also sings bluegrass. She is a little bit country and a little bit classical. Brown will be accompanied by Matt Shipman on the guitar.

The meal will be provided by Davinci’s restaurant and will feature seafood lasagna and salad. The event is usually attended by approximately 300 people, who gather to speak French and have a good time.

It is open to the public and anyone interested in speaking French for two hours may do so by calling Claudette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.
