TOGUS – Stanley W. “Curly” Remington, 80, of Fayette, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 25, at the VA Medical Center in Togus, with his loving family by his side.

He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Andover, the sixth child of Ralph and Ruth (Hutchins) Remington. He served his country six years with the U.S. Navy during World War II and four years with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

On May 23, 1958, he married Marilyn Demont in Andover. They lived in Livermore Falls, Lisbon and Fayette for several years.

He worked as a long haul truck driver for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 62, in 1988. He continued to drive locally part time.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowshoeing, ski-jumping and was a member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 in Jay. He was a passionate and talented musician, having played for years with various groups.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Fayette; two daughters, Sheila Pylican, of Lewiston, and Brenda Martin, and her life partner, Dana Bradstreet, of Lisbon Falls; three brothers, Francis Remington, of Colo., Harold Remington, of Mo., and Robert Remington, of Fla.; three sisters, Arlene Harrington, of Bethel, Charmine Cote, of Farmington, N.H., and Kay DeVona, of Skowhegan; a sister-in-law, Thelma Remington, of Bethel; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond, Clarence and Edward Remington.
