Issue: The franchise contract for Time Warner to provide cable TV service in the town expires in December 2009.

The scoop: Selectmen directed Town Administrator Rhonda Irish to send Time Warner a letter of intent to renew the contract. Issues for the town include expansion of cable coverage area and the type of services to be provided.

New town ball field

Issue: Funding for development of ball fields in the new Minot Community Park.

The scoop: Selectmen were informed that the town administrator and recreation committee intend to apply, in the town’s name, for four grants, three from private foundations, to supplement the $50,000 that town meeting voters will be asked to allocate toward development of a parking area and regulation Babe Ruth baseball field in the park.

New town roads

Issue: It is in the town’s best interest that new roads built by subdivision developers be constructed to last.

The scoop: Selectmen accepted for review a checklist was developed from sections of the town’s land use code dealing with the process for street acceptance. The list is to assist developers and town officials in making sure new roads are built according to proper engineering specifications and will last.
