AUBURN – Mary Elizabeth Greenwood, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 26, at Clover Residential Care. She had been a resident there for 2 years.
She was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Windham, the daughter of Hazel and Harry Webb.
She was educated in Windham Schools and graduated in 1937.
She went on to marry Charles R. Greenwood on July 15, 1944, in Portland. They raised four children.
She retired from Geiger Bros. after 25 years of service.
She was a proud, long-standing member of the Orhodox Presbyterian Church. Over the last 12 years, her church family was at East Auburn Baptist Church, where she worshipped and was truly blessed by the sermons. She loved the Lord and looked forward to the day she would join her husband and daughter, Jocelyn, in Heaven.
She was loved dearly by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
She is survived by one son, Edward Greenwood and wife, Candace, of Greene; two daughters, Mary Jordan and husband, Charles, of Lewiston, and Susanne Greenwood, of Greene; one grandson, Jacob Greenwood and Janessa of Connecticut; eight granddaughters, Pamela Turnell and Thomas of Lewiston, Mara Duncan and William of Sabbatus, Rebecca Sabo and Matthew of Connecticut, Jayne Bergeron of Auburn, Tracey Landry and Lee of North Whitefield, Amy Labbe and Scott of Greene, Heather Burgess and Richard of Lewiston, and Kyla Greenwood of Greene; her brother, Thorton (Cap) VanDusen; 12 great-grandchildren, whom she truly loved; as well as George Webb, Thelma Sanborn, and Shirly Bassols.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1981; and her daughter, Jocelyn, in 1996.
She enjoyed her friends and her caregivers at Clover, who made her feel so special and loved. Clover truly was her home.
