LEWISTON – Priscilla Cyr Allen, 92, formerly of Montello Heights, Lewiston, died at the Marshwood Nursing Home on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

She was born in Madawaska on March 17, 1914, the daughter of Xavier and Olive Cyr.

She was educated at the Evangeline School in Madawaska, and migrated to Lewiston in 1933.

She was employed as a housekeeper for some Lewiston families until she went to work as a live-in housekeeper/nanny for the Lucien Sutton family, working there until she married Willie O. Sutton on June 27, 1936. He passed away on March 3, 1966.

After her marriage, she worked as a cloth inspector at the Hill Mill for 32 years.

She was a communicant of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul and at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. She was a past regent of the Daughters of Isabella – Father Remy Circle No. 508, past president of Les Dames Montagnards and a member of the ACA Canado, Ladies of St. Anne of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, the Sts. Peter & Paul Society, Cercle d’Youville, Cercle du St. Sacrement of Holy Cross Parish, and a volunteer, for many years, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

After the death of her husband, she spent many winters in Florida with her dear friend, Blanche Daigle. She enjoyed traveling, working on crafts, knitting, and crocheting.

Survivors include two sisters, Odile Mower of Lewiston and Louise Bouchard of Van Buren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Camille, Alyre, Adrien, and Jacques Cyr.
