AUBURN – Roland A. Dennis, 82, of Evergreen Road in Lewiston, died late Sunday evening, Feb. 25, at the Hospice House with family at his side.

He was born in Auburn on Oct. 4, 1924, a son of Laurent and Helen (Martin) Dennis.

On May 21, 1949, he married the former Laurette LePage of Lewiston.

As a young man, he first worked for a number of years as a brickmaker. He later worked several years for Empire News, then spent many years at Benson-Sullivan until his retirement.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church and among his very favorite enjoyments was spending time with his grandchildren and being an avid fan and follower of the Boston Red Sox.

Roland was a “people person,” a very outgoing gentleman who always enjoyed conversing and spending time with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Laurette Dennis of Lewiston; three daughters, Susan Blais and husband, Chuck, of Bethany, Okla., Patricia Lavoie and husband, Raymond, of Poland, and Debra Bernard and husband, Barry, of Lewiston; two sons, Peter Dennis and wife, Lorrie Ann, of Greene, and Richard Dennis and wife, Ann, of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Dennis, Nathan Blais, Adam Blais, Stacy Dennis, Ryan Dennis, Matthew Lavoie, Melora Lavoie, Carissa Bernard, Whitney Bernard and Kyle Bernard; a great-grandson, Alex Henson; and four sisters, Theresa Obie and husband, Roger, of Lewiston, Pauline Turcotte and husband, Robert, of Auburn, Jeannette Morhauser and husband, Richard, of Auburn, and Diane Dennis, also of Auburn.

He was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Dennis.
