WILTON – Police Chief Dennis Brown has started an initiative that he hopes will make the department more proactive. Special assignments, which may include drunken driving checkpoints or warrant sweeps, will be randomly undertaken each month, he said.
A sweep with 14 warrants Wednesday night by police officers Blaine Radcliffe and Steve Smith resulted in two arrests, one a juvenile and the other for unpaid fines. An illegal substance search was made at a residence with no result.
Brown said he hopes to eventually incorporate surrounding area departments to work with the force.
