WEST PARIS – Ruth M. McKenna, 78, died Saturday, March 3, at Ledgeview Nursing Home in West Paris. She lived on Route 2 in Rumford.
Born in Bethel on Aug. 3, 1928, she was a daughter of Arthur and Rosa Garber. She was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel.
She worked at the Casco Bank in Rumford, and then she and her husband, Everett, owned and operated the Rumford Zoo from 1956 to 1987.
She enjoyed her winters in Florida and her times in New Jersey.
She was married to the late Everett McKenna, who died on Oct. 28, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, David McKenna, and his companion, Penni Mann, of Rumford, and Mark McKenna, and his wife, Laurie, of Rumford; a daughter, Sharon Weston of Limington and her longtime companion, Vincent Severino, of Rumford; grandchildren, Alex and Josh Weston, Deanna McKenna, Neil McKenna, Heath McKenna, Shay McKenna and Drew McKenna.
She was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Bailey.
