South Paris – Francis “Frank” Paul Edwards, 74, of South Paris, passed away March 3, at the Maine Veterans Home after a short battle with stomach cancer with family at his side.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1933, in Casco, the son of Ernest P. and Euphenie Fournier Edwards. He grew up in Crescent Lake and attended Casco schools, receiving his GED at Oxford Hills High School in 1986.
He married Phyllis DeWitt in 1960 and built their home. He worked 30 years at A.C. Lawrence Leather Company until it closed. Then he worked at Oxford Homes building cabinets until Parkinson’s disease took him out of the work force.
His hobby was working with wood. He loved hunting, fishing and camping, spending time with family and writing poems.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, of South Paris; daughters, Dolores Haley and Frank Damon III, of N. Waterford, and Colleen and Thomas Owens, of Oxford; granddaughters, Michelle and Frank Damon IV, of New Jersey, Erica Haley and Joshua Bradbury, of Harrison, Alicia Owens, Andrea Owens and Aimee Owens, of Oxford; great-grandchildren, MacKensie Bradbury and Frank Damon V, and two special girls, Wendy Cantral and Judy Anderson; a brother, Donald Edwards, of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Jeannette Edgecomb, of Lewiston and Hilda Despres, of Sabattus.
He was predeceased by brothers, Roger and Ernest; and sister, Dorothy Farnum.
