LEWISTON – Abnaki District Executive Matthew Mower, Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America, has been attending Professional Development-Level 3 at the Scout Center for Professional Development in West Lake, Texas. The course, which is the third and final training for a district executive, includes sessions on volunteer relations, finance, fundraising and marketing.

Mower, who has served as district executive since September 2003 and will serve his second season as director of Camp William Hinds in Raymond, is a native of Greene and resides with his wife, Erin, in Lewiston. He was a Scout in Pack and Troop 113.

“Scouting is a profession with a purpose,” said Mower “The service given by the hundreds of volunteers in this district working with youth today positively affects what the community is going to be like tomorrow. All I do is help volunteers achieve that, which, to me, is a privilege.”

The Abnaki District services Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing in most of Androscoggin and Oxford counties. For more information on how to get involved or how to support Scouting, contact Mower at 797-5252, ext. 33, or e-mail him at mmower@bsamail.org.
