AUBURN – Joseph C. O’Leary, 72, of Hartley Street, Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, March 6, at the Hospice House with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 6, 1935, the son of Joseph and Lucy (Paradis) O’Leary. He grew up in Auburn and attended St. Joseph’s School in Lewiston.

He worked for many years in various local shoe companies as a machinist.

He was member of Sacred Heart Church. Joseph enjoyed bowling, roller-skating and playing cribbage.

He is survived by his wife, Yvette (Bernier) O’Leary, whom he married on March 3, 1962, and they had just celebrated their 45th anniversary; his children, Rick O’Leary of Lewiston, Lisa Woodcock and her husband, Barry, of Lisbon, and Nancy Poulin and her husband, Matthew, of Bow, N.H.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sisters, Mary Ivanson and Marlene O’Leary, both of Connecticut, and Nancy Davis and her husband, Joey, of South Paris.

He was predeceased by his son, Paul O’Leary; two brothers, Peter and Roy O’Leary; and his sisters, Bernie Fitzsimmons, Margaret Moreau, Doris Belanger and Betty Humphries.
