Club speaker

AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the WLU Club House, Elm Street.

Barbara Randall will present capsules of “Monarchy Unbuttoned,” a course she taught at the Senior College at the University of Southern Maine, Lewiston campus.

Hostesses will be Marguerite Powers, Shirley Small, Sheila Laurendeau and Muriel Baylis.

Lodge to meet

LISBON FALL – Ancient York Lodge 155, AF and AM, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the lodge, Oak Street. Work will be in the Entered Apprentice Degree. All Master Masons and Fellowcraft Masons are welcome. Refreshments will follow.

Golden agers

AUBURN – The Sacred Heart Golden Age Club will meet at noon Tuesday, March 13, at the church hall. Menu will be corned beef and cabbage. Dessert will be “make your own sundaes.” For reservations, call Paula at 579-4082 no later than Saturday, March 10. Plans are being made for the raffle table at the April meeting.

Members may start bringing in their raffle items at the March meeting. For more information, call Irene at 782-6443.

Win tickets

LEWISTON – Mayor Laurent F. Gilbert Sr. has announced that 16 Lewiston residents have won a pair of hockey tickets for either the March 9 MAINEiacs vs. St. John’s Fog Devils game at 7 p.m. or the March 11 MAINEiacs vs. P.E.I. Rockets game at 4 p.m. Both will be played at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, 190 Birch St.

The winning residents, who were selected from the random drawing of submitted entries, are Diane Duplissis, Joseph Lewicki, Paul Laliberte, Cecile Paradis, Suzanne Dubois, Lucille St. Pierre, Ronald Charpentier, Louise Goyette, Marcus Baker, Daniel Dennis, Rolande Lebrun, Daniel Turcotte, Ray Cloutier, Kristy Morin, Monique Morin and Rachelle Simard.

Throughout the hockey season, Lewiston residents have had the opportunity to register for such drawings by phone, in person at the Lewiston Treasurer’s Office or via the city’s Web site.

Annual meeting

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall, Route 196. There will be a potluck supper before the meeting at 6. All members of Pioneer Chapter are encouraged to attend.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 6 were: first, Pat Smith and Shirley West; second, Mary Leahey and Les Buzzell; third, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; fourth, Marta Clements and Luke Merry; first/second tie in B, Allie Boyer and Charlie Bartlett with Cynthia Bonsey and Helen Little.

Winners at Schooner Estates in Auburn on March 7 were: first, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Briggs; third, Jeanine Kivus and Katie Love.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. A partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 783-1734 for information about all duplicate bridge games.

Registrations for the advanced beginners bridge class are being accepted at the Lewiston Adult Ed office at 795-4141. Classes start on Monday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. with instructor Les Buzzell.
