BUCKFIELD – Diane Brown, family life educator for Tri-County Health Services of Western Maine Community Action, was recently presented a distinguished service award from the Family Planning Association of Maine.

The award was presented to Brown for her 21 years of commitment to the field of sexuality education in the tri-county area. During her years as a family life educator, Brown has impacted students, school professionals and parents with her teaching around issues of healthy sexuality.

Sandy Lovell, director of family life education for the Family Planning Association, said of Brown, “Diane is the gold standard for sexuality educators. She not only knows the subject and is committed to it in every fiber of her being; she is able to share her knowledge in the most respectful of ways with students, teachers and parents alike.”

Brown is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and lives in Buckfield with her husband.
