LEWISTON – Jonathan W. Hussey Sr., 58, of 118 Horton St., Lewiston, passed away Friday morning, March 9, at his home, surrounded by family.

Born in Rochester, N.H., on Jan. 22, 1949, he was the son of Philip and Muriel Osborn Hussey. Educated in Rochester schools, he was a graduate of Spaulding High School, where he played on the football team.

After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam.

On Oct. 20, 1973, he married the former Janette L. Corliss. He and his wife made their home in the Lewiston area for more than 30 years.

He was employed in the local shoe industry as a molder for the Sableman Plastics Co., and later as a C.N.A. in local nursing homes.

He had a lifelong love of nature and animals, and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, and taking his wife to the Rangley area to moose-watch.

His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, and he was a loving and devoted grandfather.

A member of the Friends of the Light Apostolic Church and the Landlords’ Association, he is survived by his wife of Lewiston; his mother of Rochester, N.H.; two sons, Matthew and wife, Nacole, of Lewiston, and Jonathan Jr. and wife, Melissa, of Norway; two daughters, Carolee and husband, Matthew Taylor, and Charity and husband, Jeff Lewis, all of Lewiston; five brothers, Robert and wife, Brenda Turner, of Laconia, N.H., Keith and wife, Laura, of Farmington, Jason and wife, Vickie, of Punta Gorda, Fla., Philip of Farmington, and Matthew and wife, Michele, of Rochester, N.H.; a sister, Janice and husband, Andy, of Salmon Falls, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services and the third floor of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for the loving, devoted care they gave him in his final months.
