WESTFIELD, Mass. – George E. Goldrup, 69, of Westfield, Mass., died Friday, March 9, at Mercy Hospital.

He was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Lisbon, son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Savage) Goldrup.

He was employed as an inspector of welding for Hamilton Standard for 25 years, retiring in 1990.

George was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, was a member of the National Guard and was a member of American Legion and the VFW Post No. 016-03 in Auburn.

He enjoyed fixing things and was especially handy with plumbing and electrical work.

He leaves his wife of 39 years, Bernice (Hobart) Goldrup; and his children, David Champiney and his wife, Constance, of Montgomery, Mass., Donna Clarke and her husband, Wesley, of Southwick, Mass., and Stephen Champiney of Westfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Wesley Clarke, Michael Oberthur, David Champiney, Eric Clarke, Adam Clarke, Nichole Champiney, Steven Champiney, Tina Mosher and Renee Hooban; and seven great-grandchildren.

He also leaves three brothers, Robert Goldrup of Auburn, Edward Goldrup of Westfield, Mass., and Frank Goldrup of Leeds; a sister, Florabelle McGinley of Leeds; and special friends, Rick and Nancy Lyons.

He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Champiney; three brothers, Ernest, Alton, William and Richard Goldrup; and a sister, Ruth Bade.
