LEWISTON – Robert “Bob” Aube died Friday, March 9, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loving family.
The son of Joseph and Rose Gendron Aube, he was born in Lewiston in 1921 and was raised on a farm on Old Greene Road.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed on the Aleutian Islands during World War II, and was called back to active duty during the Korean War.
He subsequently worked as a firefighter, and then as a career postal carrier.
He was known for a cheerful disposition, strong work ethic, and a willingness to help others.
On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Cecile Tardif, and they remained married until Cecile’s death in 1999.
He was fortunate to later meet Gilberte Pratt, and they married on Dec. 6, 2002. They had a loving relationship until Bob’s death.
Bob was regarded as a sincere, generous individual who was loyal to friends and family. He was a prolific gardener and an avid reader with a particular interest in history.
A member of Holy Family Parish, he was active in the VFW and a dedicated sports fan.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Gilberte; and his dear daughter, Claire. He also had many caring nieces and nephews, including Bobby Tancrede, who still resides near the family farm.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Cecile; and his sister, Irma Tancrede.
