It is pretty apparent that the Sun Journal editorial staff is seeking a formula that will increase readership in a declining market. Eliminating old favorite comics and devising new, “cool” features for younger readers come to mind in that connection.

But I wonder if any of the opinion experts at Sun Journal have suggested a better balance on the editorial page? I can no longer stomach Cal Thomas and Rich Lowry, and I find that Leonard Pitts Jr. fails to even the score. I would like to see some fresh faces on that page.

I tried the Portland papers for a change, but recently resubscribed to the Sun Journal for another try. So far, the only feature that I find interesting and different is the news from 100, 50, and 25 years ago.
