WOODSTOCK – A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, on changes to the subdivision and animal control ordinances. It will be held at the town office.
Both amendments will be voted on at the annual town meeting Monday, March 26.
“Both items are minor changes in nature for subdivisions and animal control, but under the law we have to hold a public hearing to present the facts to the people before we include them in the voting at town meeting,” Town Manager Vern Maxfield said.
The proposed change in the subdivision ordinance would discontinue the requirement that developers provide a reservoir for a development. The amendment to the animal control ordinance would requirement dog owners to clean up after their pets who leave droppings on public property.
Maxfield also announced the highway department is studying the best buy on a new plow truck and will report to selectmen March 20.
“We already have enough money put away in our highway capital reserve account to purchase the truck,” he said, “which will run $95,000. We will not have to raise any extra money at the town meeting for the purchase, but the crew has to decide on what will best serve their needs and give them the longest service.”
Fire Department representative Tom Hartford has announced the department will publish a quarterly newsletter for homeowners starting this month.
Some of the topics are chimney cleaning, carbon monoxide monitoring, smoke alarms maintenance and other safety matters.
