FARMINGTON – Glennis Edith Foss, 87, of Farmington, passed away on Sunday, March 11, at Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1919, in Farmington, the daughter of Carl S. and Edith E. (Tyler) Hutchinson. She graduated from Farmington High School. She married Norman L. Foss, on Nov. 11, 1939.

She worked at the University of Maine at Farmington, as a pastry chef, and for many years as a home care helper for Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was a member of the Farmington Grange, being past master and leader of the Youth Group, the American Legion Auxiliary, a 4-H Club leader, and was secretary and treasurer for the Hutchinson family reunion. She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman, and enjoyed flower gardening, knitting and snowmobiling, and always went to dances whenever she could.

She is survived by a daughter, Thirzalyn “Snookie” Carlson and her husband, Donald, of Camano Island, Wash.; two sons, Norman S. and his wife, Ann Foss, of Farmington, and Neil and his wife, Susan Foss, of Farmington; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Hewey, of New Portland; a sister-in-law, Mary Hutchinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman in 1980; her daughter, Nancy Haggan; and a brother, Carroll Hutchinson.
