AUBURN – James A. Hutchinson, 89, of Brown Street, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, at the Hospice House.

He was born in South Gardiner on July 20, 1917, the son of Donald and Helen (Chambers) Hutchinson.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He later worked for Knapp Shoe for over 40 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a longtime member of the Assemblies of God Church in Lewiston, where he was one of the past commanders and founding members of the Royal Rangers for the church and the District. He was also a past Sunday school teacher and treasurer, and was always available to volunteer for various church functions.

He enjoyed taking trips with the Golden Seniors Group throughout New England and Canada. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing scrabble, cribbage and particularly time spent with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife, Eva Hutchinson; a son, James W. Hutchinson; brothers, Addrean Hutchinson and Manley Hutchinson; a sister, Ila Rich; and a granddaughter, baby girl Hutchinson.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Pomerleau of Lewiston; sons, Wilmuth Hutchinson of Lewiston, Dana Hutchinson and wife, Dot, of Auburn, and Ros Hutchinson and wife, Brenda, of Auburn; a sister, Martha Glidden and husband, Dale, of Norway; brothers, Hazen Hutchinson and wife, Eleanor, of Poland and Herbie Hutchinson and wife, Edi, of Vermont; his stepmother, Jane Hutchinson of Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
