OXFORD – Ruth Barton has been named the Oxford County Outstanding 4-H Member for 2006. She is a member of the Cream of the Crop 4-H Club and has been a 4-H member for four years.

Barton is always willing to help the younger members of her club and takes an active part in the leadership of the club, said 4-H staff. She has kept an excellent portfolio of her work, completing the record sheets and turning them in on time at the end or the year.

Barton helped organize members at the annual showcase event, displaying her leadership abilities. She also volunteered at Ag Education Day at the Oxford Fair and gave individual demonstrations during the day. During the 4-H Exhibit Hall set-up, she helped organize the club exhibit, plus exhibiting her projects.

Barton is active in the photography project and at the county photo contest won first prize.

She is working on a photography enrichment project with leader Lois Pike, under the direction of Skip Churchill.
